Vera Velovski

Wednesday January 26, 2022

Vera Velovski (née Kolozegoska), age 76, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed from this life on January 26, 2022.

Born to Stojan and Cveta Kolozegoski on April 3, 1945, in Krivogastani, Macedonia, Vera was the much-loved youngest daughter in a family of four children.  She grew up in Krivogastani and moved to Skopje to continue her studies and became a Doctor of Dentistry, servicing her community in Krivogastani for many years until she met her future husband, Boris Velovski, and immigrated to the United States in 1967, settling first in Gary, Indiana, later moving to Merrillville, IN, and finally to Crown Point, IN.  Vera was blessed with two sons, Tony and Richard Velovski.  Although Vera did not continue practicing dentistry upon her arrival in the US, her career path took many colorful turns over the years.  While caring for her two young sons, she managed the family’s travel agency, Balkan Travel, and hosted a weekly Macedonian radio program on the local radio station, WLTH.  In later years, she worked for JC Penney in their custom drapery department, Burrell Colour Imaging in their photo-finishing department, and finally retired from St. Anthony Medical Center, where she was part of the housekeeping staff.

Vera was a kind and caring woman who had immense love for her family and friends and had a passion for animals, gardening, travel, and old Hollywood.  She had a great sense of humor and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Stojan and Cveta Kolozegoski, her siblings, Tane Kolozegoski and Zorka Markoska, her niece Valentina Trajkoski, her nephew Nikola Petkovich, and her in-laws, Metodija and Slavka Velov.

Vera is survived by her husband, Boris, loving sons, Tony and Richard, sister and brother-in-law, Gjena and Najdo Trajkoski, niece Julie (Andrew) Spyrison and their boys, Ronin and Remy, sister- and brother-in-law, Menka and Ted Petkovich, and nephew Steve (Elizabeth) Petkovich and their children, Nikola and Mila, in addition to several family members in Macedonia.

Vera will be missed dearly, but her life will always be celebrated.
