Mike is a resident of Lake Station, IN. He is a Certified Crematory Operator and Cremation Arranger. Mike has two decades of experience serving families in Northwest Indiana. Mike is Vice President of the Lake Station Historical Society, is on the Board of Directors of the Lake Station Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Lake Station Lions Club. He enjoys history, art, working in his yard and garden and spending time with family and friends.
Violet de la Torre-Corona
Violet is originally from Chicago where she worked with her family’s funeral home for more than 20 years and has been an Illinois Funeral Director for over 16 years. Violet is fluent in Spanish and has an understanding of Italian. She has experience with all kinds of funeral services: traditional burials, cremations and even international shipping of the departed. Violet is originally from the northwest side of Chicago and at a very young age understood her calling was to help people around her, not in the conventional way of helping, but in a way that would allow her to help those during the worst time of their lives, when one loses a loved one. Along with her faith and determination, Violet decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a funeral director and embalmer. A graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Violet has helped many families throughout her funeral directing career.
Daniel Moran has been the General Manager/Sales Manager of Calumet Park since 2007. He entered the cemetery profession in 1988 with Gibraltar Mausoleum. He went from sales person to Location Manager to combination Cemetery/Funeral Home Sales Manager to Regional Manager to Assistant Vice President of Sales faster (in two years) than any employee in the history of the company. Daniel writes monthly articles for two local newspapers in NW Indiana, and maintains the company Facebook page (@mycalumetpark) along with writing and producing the company newsletter.
Sandra began her career as a Family Service Counselor with Calumet Park Cemetery in 2017. She takes pride in treating each and every family with compassion and care, paying attention to every detail from start to finish. Her goal is to ensure that everyone walks away knowing that their loved one is treated with nothing but dignity and respect. She feels her greatest gift is receiving a hug or a card from a grieving family member, thanking her for making such a heart-breaking experience an easier and smoother process.
Sandra currently holds an insurance license for property, casualty, life and health, and she worked in the insurance industry for several years. She is an alumni of Purdue University Calumet, and holds a Business Degree with an emphasis in Marketing. She is especially proud of being the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a scholarship through an entrepreneurial club. She is also proud to be a “foster parent to some of the most beautiful canines on earth!”
Richard is married and has two children, three grandsons, and is a cat and dog lover. Originally from Chicago, Richard has lived in Merrillville for the past seven years. He is a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Merrillville. He is one of the founding members of the Thursday morning fellowship and prayer group that meets at the cemetery. He has won several recognition awards for service to families as well as outstanding attitude winner on a number of occasions since joining the Family Service staff in 2012. His personal philosophy is “God put me on Earth to make people laugh and smile. I find nothing quite as fulfilling as turning a family’s tears into a smile when appropriate during my short time of servicing their immediate and future needs.”
Kathy has served the families entrusted to our cemetery and funeral homes for more than 20 years. She has a deep-rooted knowledge and experience with various ethnic customs, and so works closely with many members of our diverse community. Kathy is active in the community with the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce and various religious organizations.
Kevin lives in Lake Station, Indiana with his wife Katie and their three children. A lifelong Lake Station resident, Kevin has acquired his Bachelor’s Degree in Business and his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Kevin is currently enrolled at Ivy Tech working toward a degree in Mortuary Science. Before moving into the Administrative Assistant role at Rendina Funeral Home, he worked on the grounds crew at Calumet Park Cemetery for 11 years. Kevin loves to spend his free time with his wife and kids, whether it is going to movies, sporting events, or playing video games with the kids, he strives to spend as much time with his family as he can.
Michelle is a resident of Schererville, IN. She attended Southern Illinois University and Ivy Tech’s College of Mortuary Science. Michelle has over 15 years of experience in serving families in Northwest Indiana. When she isn’t serving families, Michelle enjoys spending time with her two sons and coaching their various sports teams in Schererville.
