February 3, 2022
Carmen Marie Luna-Hogan, age 59, of Merrillville, Indiana went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 3, 2022. She was born on November 7, 1962 to Benjamin T. Luna and Judith A. Schipani. She attended Merrillville High School and went on to further her education at Valparaiso University and Indiana University Northwest.
Over the years, she had several different jobs but her heart was always in the restaurant/catering industry at which she excelled. She managed the Old Mill Pizzeria for years as well as the Banquet on the Green Golf Club Catering facility. She was able to use her administrative skills to operate these businesses with great care. Her gift for hospitality and outgoing personality shone through in her service to others. Anyone who knew Carmen, knew that was the most generous, kind-hearted, and compassionate person. She always had a kind word on her tongue and a Tab soda in her hand. She was a proud mother who adored her children and always had time for her family. Her warm and caring personality made her the best mother, daughter, sister, and aunt and she made everyone feel special. Her personality was magnetic which drew people to her. She loved to bake massive amounts of Christmas cookies to give away and bless as many people as she could. Carmen always had a smile on her face and her gentle demeanor made everyone feel loved. Her acts of kindness will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Judy A. Schipani of Crown Point, IN, daughter Ashley Hogan of Indianapolis, IN, son Zachary Hogan of Merrillville, IN, sisters Chris McQueeney (Kevin) of Greenfield, IN, Angela Luna of Sacramento, CA, Brother Ben Luna (Amie) of Valparaiso, IN, former husband, Tim Hogan of Merrillville, IN, nephews and Nieces, Joshua Luna, Weston McQueeney (Jackie), Jaclyn McQueeney, Christian Luna and beloved dog Max. She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin T. Luna and stepfather, William Schipani.
Although Carmen will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her, peace and comfort are found in knowing that she is in glory wither her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
