Harold Slosson, 94, of Schererville, passed away December 24, 2019.

Visitation for Harold will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM with chapel service at 5.  All services will be held at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, Merrillville.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unity Hospice of NWI or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Bonnie Holguin

Bonnie Holguin, of Crown Point, passed away on December 23, 2019 at the age of 81.
She is survived by her beloved daughter: Kim (Bill) Peterson; her treasured grandchildren: Will Peterson and Chloe Holguin Grodzina; and son-in-law, John Grodzina.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Katie Prichett; daughter, Lorri Holguin Grodzina; 2 brothers, 3 sisters; and dear friend: Mickey McDermott.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 1:00 PM, with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service, Deacon Brian Nosbusch officiating. All services at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville. Interment Maplewood Cemetery.

Fernando Perez Jr.

Fernando Perez, age 46, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Luz S. Perez (Ruiz); beloved daughters: Alexis, Linda and Anissa; cherished granddaughter, Ava; parents: Linda (Rafael) Solis; siblings Linda, Eric and David and step sisters: Monica and Terri. Fernando was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Elisabeth Paunovich

Elisabeth Rose Paunovich, age 90, formerly of Melbourne, Florida, entered eternal rest in San Antonio, Texas on December 15, 2019. She was born in Vienna, Austria on July 12, 1929 to parents Eleonore Woynar and Bella Knoeffel. As a young girl, Elisabeth embraced her love for music, drama and dance and attained her dream of becoming a ballerina with the Vienna State Ballet Company. At an early age,

Colleen Spurlock

Colleen R. Spurlock, age 60, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019. She is survived by her beloved husband Michael Spurlock; daughter, Jessica (Doug) Watson; mother, Joyce Hedges; sister, Marla J. Botsko; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her son Adam Spurlock and step father Frank C. Hedges.

Colleen loved to play bunco and she was known to be very crafty. She was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of her unborn grand-daughter Avery Watson. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft St. Merrillville, IN). Raul G. Perez Sr.

Raul G. Perez, Sr., age 91, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019. He is survived by his children: Raul G. Perez, Jr., Michael Perez, John Sheehy and Diana Sheehy-Duffee; grandchildren: Cassie, Angel, Christy, Matthew, Morgan and Leigha; siblings: Carolina Proa and Beto Perez.
Loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many.
Born in Chicago in 1928 to Federicko and Crispina Perez, the second eldest of his siblings. His family moved back to Mexico while he was still an infant. When he was 16, he moved back north, working crops along the way, and teaching himself English from American comic books. He landed a job at US Steel as a crane operator and worked there faithfully for 39 years. He served his country in the Korean War with valor and bravery. He loved to play pool and he played well, earning many league trophies which covered a wall in the basement of his home. He was regarded by all as one of the nicest men around.
A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rendina Funeral Home (5100 Cleveland St., Gary, IN) with a Celebration of Life beginning at 6:00 p.m. Carrie Evans officiating. For information please call 219-980-1141.

Dorothy Zubrick, age 93, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Sharon (late George) Basta, Beverly Guzman, Linda (Michael) Surman, Allan (Arlene) Bowie, Jim (Kirsten) Bishop, John (Jasmina) Bishop, Paul Bishop, Chris (Bryan) Roye, Eugene Walker, Carol (Mike) Kaczur, Sharon Razumich and Barbara Fedorchak. Dorothy was also survived by her loving poodle, Gigi.
Preceded in death by her parents: Anton and Franciska Wojtkowiak and husband, George Zubrick.
Dorothy was a lifelong parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Merrillville, IN. She enjoyed many crafts including knitting and ceramics. She was a superior baker as well.
Dorothy will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019, 10:00 a.m. with prayers from Rendina Funeral Home (5100 Cleveland St., Gary, IN) beginning at 9:15 a.m. to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church (5885 Harrison St., Merrillville, IN 46410) for mass at 10:00 a.m. Rev. James Meade officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Rendina Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Elaine was the school nurse at West Side High School in Gary, IN for over 30 years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Gary for many years. Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
