Alice Basu, 70, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, with her family by her side.

She is survived by husband, Ajoy Basu and  her beloved children: Dahlia (Steve) McDaniel, Sanjoy Basu, and Sanjiv (Stephanie) Basu;  and cherished grandchildren: Cynthia Basu – Chavez, Michael McDaniel, Jessica McDaniel, Mia McDaniel, Logan Basu, and Avery Basu; and dear brother and sister: Jeronimo Garza and Genevieve Fagan.

Alice will always be remembered for the love she had for everybody and her dedication to her family.  She was a caregiver to many, was exceptionally generous with her time, and the most thoughtful woman you could ever hope to meet. Her spirit lifted everyone around her

She was artistically gifted and enjoyed spending time crafting and crocheting.  She had a prominent sweet tooth, enjoyed antique items and was enthralled with cats and the peace and joy they brought to her. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and adored making ornaments and listening to Christmas music.

She also loved to sing, and spent some time singing in a Sweet Adeline group.

She spread cheer and optimism wherever she went, as she was more than delighted to share her good mood and smiles with anyone she met.

Alice was beautiful, strong, generous person who raised a beautiful, strong, and generous family.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

There will a memorial visitation on Friday, November 26 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM with a chapel service at 3:00.  Father Mike Maginot officiating.  For information, call 219-736-5840.
