Alice Rose (Vespo) Carroll, was born on May 29, 1943 in Gary, Indiana, to Joseph and Rose Vespo.  Alice was raised in a large Italian Catholic family with three brothers and seven sisters.  She grew up in Gary and attended Tolleston High School graduating in 1963. She lived there until she met and married the love of her life, Edward Carroll, on December 10, 1976.  They had one daughter, Deborah, who they raised together in Chesterton, Indiana.

Alice enjoyed many activities such as word searches and was an avid collector of Princess Diana and The Temptations memorabilia.  She loved to sew, was a great seamstress and helped others needing clothing alterations.

Alice worked at Life Care of the Willows in Valparaiso for almost 15 years prior to her retirement in 2018.  She was well-loved and received several honors and recognitions for her hard work with the residents there.

Alice loved her family.  She was considered “everyone’s grandma.”  She enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews, as well as her one and only granddaughter, Jasmine.  Alice was beyond loved by those who knew her.  She was known for her warm affection, humor, compassion and straight-forward nature.
