Jeff was preceded in death by college sweetheart & first wife Lois Keen, his father Richard Keen and his grandparents.
Jeff was originally from LeGrand Iowa where he was raised on a farm, attended LDF high school followed by Iowa State and was a member of the marching band. (which he was always proud to mention he shared the cover of Time Magazine with Mick Jagger….true story!)
Jeff was an educated man with a bachelors’ degree. He worked many jobs including the forestry service in South Carolina, Pastor for many churches & Chaplin for hospice for more than 16 years, comforting countless families in their time of grief. Changing careers, he received his state license to sell insurance. Two years ago, he began to work for Morley of Saginaw. He loved his job and excelled at it. He was promoted several times in the company with the past year reaching Team Leader position.
Jeff loved music, a gift he received from his mom (a music teacher) he played the trombone, guitar, & could squeeze out a few notes on the piano which didn’t sound half bad to my ears.
Jeff loved sports, Iowa state was his team, if a game was on you can bet, he was watching! He enjoyed both making and drinking craft beer, he enjoyed both telling and hearing a good joke, followed by a resounding laugh that was unforgettable to all who had the opportunity to hear it.
Jeff was a carpenter and enjoyed refinishing furniture and was very good with his hands, however never missed an opportunity to pull out a power tool whether needed or not!
Jeff had both a kind and gentle nature as well as a big heart, always helping others.
His sudden passing has left such a deep wound for all of us close to him. He passed way too soon with much undone.
We say goodbye for now with heavy hearts.
A celebration of life will be held June 18, 2022, in Indiana so that we can gather in remembrance and celebrate his life. Details to follow closer to the date.
