“Slavko” or  “Stan”

Age 90, of Portage, Indiana and formerly of Gary and Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care in Crown Point, Indiana.  Stanislav was born January 27, 1931, in Zitnič Dalmatia Krajina in the former Yugoslavia.  He is the son of Marko and Stana “Staka” Sirovica (nee Bibič).  Stanislav has two sons, Mark S. Sirovica of Crown Point, Indiana and Steven (Katherine DeFalco) Sirovica of Cedar Park, Texas, four daughters Stana (Gradimir) Vukajlovič of Oak Brook, Illinois, Aleksandra (Ronald, deceased) Sirovica Smith of Richardson, Texas, Kristina Nenadič of Western Springs, Illinois and Jovanka (Gregory) Cvitkovich of Highland, Indiana; ten grandchildren Stefan, Sonja and Eva Vukajlovič  of Oak Brook, Illinois, Isabella Sirovica of Crown Point, Indiana, Gia and George Cvitkovich of Highland, Indiana, Aleksi and Luka Nenadič of Western Springs, Illinois and Vivian and Violet Sirovica of Cedar Park, Texas.

Stanislav had a brother Dragoljub M. Sirovica who was lost in World War II.  He had two sisters Nevenka (Jovan, deceased) Sirovica of Valparaiso, Indiana, Rosa (Jošo, deceased) Pajdek, two half-sisters Boja (Ilija, deceased) Višič and Ana “Anuška” (Jovan, deceased) Mileta, all in the former Yugoslavia; two nieces the late Ksenija (Marko) Crncevič and their children, Slavica (Marko) Čaljkušič of Canada and numerous other nieces and nephews and relatives of the former Yugoslavia.  The late Kumovi Jošo and Evica Kovrlija of Crown Point, Indiana and their children; Kumovi Helen (Ilija, deceased) Kirby of Merrillville, Indiana and their children; and Kumovi Milan (deceased) and Andja Dujakovič of Hobart, Indiana and their children; brother-in-law Alex (Brenda) Bondor of LaPorte, Indiana and their children, also many friends in Canada, England, the former Yugoslavia and United States of America.

Stanislav was a Četnik. Before arriving in America, he served valiantly in the WW II Cetnik Freedom Fighters’ of Dinarska Division.  He was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Merrillville, Indiana.  He was a member of the United Steel U.S.X. Gary Works in Gary, Indiana with 43 ½ years of service in the plate mill department.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 directly at 9am at St Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 8700 Taft St, Merrillville, IN with V. Rev Aleksandar Novakovic officiating.
