February 20, 2021

December 19, 1941 – February 20, 2021

Gwendolyn Jean Clapp, age 79, of Portage, went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday,
February 20, 2021, where she was reunited with her beloved husband and soulmate, Dale V. Clapp. She
was preceded in death by her parents; Burton and Hannah; stepfather, Arthur Crisman, and best friend,
Judy Cooley.

Gwen graduated from Gary Emerson High School. She went on to become a beautician and was
employed at Mary’s Beauty Salon in Portage, Indiana for over 25 years. Gwen was a member of
Augustana Lutheran Church where she married the love of her life on December 17, 1960.

Gwen battled heart failure and many other health issues bravely and gallantly over the past 30 years.
She fought tirelessly and was determined to remain independent at home with her two best friends, her
dogs, Rowdy and Roxie.

Gwen bowled and golfed in leagues for many years. She was an avid animal lover who donated to many
different animal organizations. She loved traveling and enjoyed spending time in Florida. She loved
being with her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed and looked forward to attending the
many sporting events, musical concerts, and any other activities her children and grandchildren were
involved in. Her family was her life.

She is survived by her three children; Dale (Lynn) Clapp, Tammy (Tim) Pivarnik, and Douglas Clapp. Six
grandchildren; Dale (Rebecca) Clapp, Kelly (Scott) Hutchins, Tara Villarreal, Jakob Clapp, Keighly Clapp,
and Cara (Cory) Grinnell. Two great-grandchildren; Alan and Adam Moore, and Betty Widelski, a very
special cousin who was like a sister to her.

Gwen touched the hearts of so many people and she will be deeply missed. She leaves behind
memories that will be forever etched in our hearts.
