Dimitirija Josifovski, age 91, of Chandler, AZ, formerly Crown Point, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Affectionately known as "Dimce” or “Jimmy,” his life was filled with dedication to hard work, faith, and loving his family. Dimce was born in Brusnik, Bitola, Macedonia of former Yugoslavia where he worked the family farm. As a young man, he was a Veteran of the Yugoslavian Army and married the love of his life, Nada. They would later immigrate to the United States in 1967 with their children, Jovo, Mirjana, and Eli. Upon settling in Gary, he began his career at US Steel where he would ultimately retire from after 26 years. Throughout his life, he was selfless, respected, and devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church and assisted many European families reach their dreams of immigrating to the United States. After retirement, he enjoyed his lifelong hobbies of tending to his garden, planting flowers, bird watching, and savoring his favorite Macedonian cuisine. Though he experienced the untimely passing of his son, Jovo Josifovski, he retained his confidence in faith and provided the needed strength for his family. He will undoubtedly be missed by many. Dimce is survived by his wife, Nada, and children: Mirjana Gruevski of Chandler, AZ, and Eli Josifovski of Crown Point; also, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends throughout the U.S and Europe.
Due to the current pandemic, the family will be holding private funeral services on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 10:00 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 9700 Broadway, Crown Point. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery.
