Bennie C. Cuneo, age 88, of Gary, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020.  After a couple months of declining health, Ben died peacefully in his sleep. He was born on February 6, 1932 to Paul Z. and Anna Marie Cuneo. He met Mary Ann Pawlicki at Froebel High School. They were high school sweethearts and married on August 25, 1951.

Ben is survived by his sons, Paul (Carol) Cuneo of Griffith and Kirk (Carole) Cuneo of Crown Point; grandchildren, Michelle (Keith) Von Ogden, Michael (Katherine) Cuneo, Kyle Cuneo, Eric Cuneo, Brittney Ruppel, Christopher Craft; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Camryn Von Ogden, Reagan Cuneo and Karley and Kylynn Cuneo, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann in 2005 and son, David along with his parents, brothers and sisters.

Ben’s last year was wonderful. He moved into the Albertine Home in Hammond, IN. He absolutely loved living there. He enjoyed his fellow residents and the caring nuns on the staff. He was fluent in several languages and enjoyed conversing with the fellow residents in their native tongues. He was also musically inclined and loved telling the silliest jokes.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Rendina Funeral Home (5100 Cleveland Street, Merrillville, IN) with funeral mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Church (5885 Harrison Street, Merrillville, IN.)

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, memorial gathering will be limited, guests are asked to please wear masks and practice 6 ft. social distancing. No food or drinks.
