Constantine N Halkias of Merrillville, Indiana passed away on June 14, 2020. He was born to Greek parents, Irene and Nicholas Halkias, August 16, 1942 in Baghdad, Iraq, where he lived until he was 8 years old. He attended high school at Horace Mann, went to Edwards Military Institute in North Carolina, and was a graduate of Indiana University. He worked for over 40 years at Inland Steel. After retiring, he worked as a substitute teacher for the Merrillville School Corporation. He is survived by his loving wife, Despina (Patera) Halkias, 4 daughters, Irene (John Malaty), Maria (Feras Karadsheh), Nicole (John Dembowski), and Hara, and his 3 granddaughters, Alexandra, Sophia, and Marina Poppy. He is also survived by his sister Betty Pappas, brother George (Vicky) Halkias and all his nieces and nephews.
Costa was known for his love for his family and his sense of humor. He made friends everywhere he went. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel from 2 to 6 p.m. with prayers at 3 p.m.
The funeral will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Costa’s name to Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
