Gary Peterson, age 59, of Hobart, was suddenly called home by our Lord early Saturday, February 15, 2020. Gary devoted husband and best friend to Susie Michalec Peterson; loving father of Kevin Peterson and the late Daniel Peterson; amazing brother of Linda, Mike, Diane, Gene, Mark, Mary, Eric, Jackie, Ed and the late David Peterson;Son of the late Eugene E. Peterson and Mary Frances Egan Peterson; devoted son-in-law of Karl and Mary Ann Michalec; beloved father-in- law; beloved uncle, brother-in-law, godfather and friend to many.
Gary is a graduate Morgan Park H.S.; DeVry Institute; Ivy Tech Community College also attended classes at Purdue University-Hammond; and Indiana University-Gary, Indiana. He was a gifted nurse, committed to his work at DaVita Dialysis
Gary was a strong, gentle, big hearted man who excelled in sports activities including football (Morgan Park Mustangs football, swimming and diving teams). He loved people, camping, boating, golfing, bowling, music - especially Karaoke; enjoyed cooking "specialties" for his family and friends. His love of family and friends was unconditional and limitless. He will be greatly missed by many.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday February 19, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (370 N. County Line Rd. Hobart, IN.) with a prayer service at 7:00 pm Father Kime officiating. Morning prayers will be offered on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 9:00 am at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel then process for 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St Francis Xavier Church. (2447 Putnam St. Lake Station, IN.)
