Joseph Francis Vessely III passed away Thursday, October 3rd at St Mary’s Hospital in Hobart, IN. He was born on May 28, 1967 to Joseph Vessely Jr. and Rosemary (Vessely) Fanning in Gary, IN. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago in 1985, played on the Mt. Carmel Varsity Hockey Team, and were State Champions in 1994. He graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a degree in Advertising in 1988. He married Kristen Sixbury in 1995 and they enjoyed 24 years together. They created a beautiful family with 4 children- Joseph Jackson- 17, Connor Jean- 16, Lily Rose- 15, Grace Suzanne- 12. Joe worked at AT&T from 1992 until his retirement in 2019. His greatest joy and accomplishment was his wonderful family, and he liked nothing better than watching his children in all of their various activities; hockey, softball, drama, tennis, soccer, basketball, and dance. Fishing and hockey were his passions, especially coaching his son Joe’s hockey teams, and going on his annual fishing trip with his dad, step-dad and son. He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Sixbury) Vessely of Valparaiso, Indiana, children, Joseph, Connor, Lily and Grace Vessely. Parents Joseph and Karen Vessely of Dyer, Indiana and Stuart, Florida, and Rosemary and Donald Fanning of St John, Indiana, Jeanette Sixbury (mother-in-law) of Clearwater, Florida, siblings Paula (Tony) Stasulas of Frankfort, Illinois, Valerie (Dale) Guyer of Fishers, Indiana, and Kimberly (John) Witvliet of Crown Point, Indiana,

Services will be held at Calumet Park Funeral Home in Merrillville with visitation on Monday, October 7th from 4-8 pm and funeral service on Tuesday, October 8th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for the children's college education would be welcomed.
