Ermilio Lobo-Arredondo, age 60, died peacefully at home after a battle of 5 years against cancer, on October 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1959 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, but moved to Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he lived until he was 41 years of age. He then moved to the Windy City, Chicago IL. where he lived for ten years before moving to his final residence in Hobart, IN.

Ermilio's passion was to teach while positively influencing others. Throughout his professional career of 41 years, he touched thousands and thousands of lives. His never-ending smile and welcoming, caring character filled the classrooms of schools in Chihuahua, Mexico; Chicago, IL., and Lake Station, IN. He poured his heart and soul in and out of the classroom through every academic and life lesson.

Ermilio is survived by his wife, Alicia Ortiz de Lobo; his daughters, Alicia Lobo-Aveja and Sally Lobo-Torres; and his son Carlos Lobo.

"I wasn't born to just teach. I was born to inspire others, to change people, and to never give up; even when faced with challenges that seem impossible."

Please, join us in honoring Ermilio's memory this Sunday, October 6, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Calumet Park Funeral Home in Merrillville, Indiana, followed by a service on Monday, October 7, at 10:00am.
