Dwight Tyrone Smith was born on November 12, 1952 in Richmond, Va. to Francis Smith, (father information unavailable). Dwight attended Maggie Walker High School where he was a part of the marching band. His love for music continued to grow well beyond high school and into his adult life. Dwight self-taught the ability he had to play many instruments, but eventually settled with piano as his main love. He continued into a professional musical career as a producer. He produced artists like, “The Whispers, George Clinton, Klymaxx and many others. He met his wife, Grace in 1978. She too was in the musical field and they later married in 1986. They bore one baby girl in 1998, Scarlett Aireal Smith. Dwight and Grace built a huge musical production in Chicago that catered to the affluent and celebrities. Dwight and Grace spent over 25 years recording, performing and touring together.
During the latter part of Dwight’s musical career, he overlapped it with a career in Radiography. He was a radiographer for 10 years until he became ill in 2010. For the next 9 years Dwight was disabled due to lung problems despite never smoking.
Dwight left us on August 11, 2019 after complications from a double lung transplant. He leaves us to cherish and celebrate memories of his life, wife, Grace Smith, daughter, Scarlett Smith and a host of friends and family.
